Happy Chickens
Saturday morning we finished off the roof of the chicken pen and headed out to pick the chooks. We were given directions but little did we know it was 120miles away! Anyway we got them home safely and introduced them to our very confused looking dog. We installed a couple of 40watt over head lights in the coop to take some of the chill of the air at night but it's starting to look like we'll need a small heater.
Sunday we got our first egg! We thought it might take them a few days to settle in but nope, they started producing right away. We're trying to give them a mixed diet of seed, chicken feed and vegetable scraps but so far they're only interested in the more expensive bought feed. Regardless it's still pretty exciting to be getting fresh eggs.
